Minutes from 2 October 2005 meeting |
15 people in attendance 1. The Friends of Tully Lake finances were tapped to pay an invoice from our engineering team. Although we still have a reasonable amount in the bank, we need to increase the pace of fundraising as we expect the definitive plan to be submitted soon. Fundraising projects on tap include: - a redeemable bottle/can drive at Hannaford's market on the Athol/Orange line. Friends of Tully Lake will get the "extras" (those not redeemable directly at Hannaford) from November 1 - December 31. -The Walnut Hill Tracking and Nature Center (formerly Paul Rezendes' Tracking) will run a benefit tracking workshop on January 14th from 12-2. All proceeds will go to Friends of Tully Lake. Look for ads in the local papers and publicity fliers in December. Thanks to Valerie Wisniewski for running this for us! -A benefit concert with local musicians is being planned for January/February. -A benefit supper in Athol in November/December 2. More letters to the editor are appearing in local and regional papers. We're working up press releases to send to the Boston Globe, Worcester Telegram, and other papers to increase public attention. 3. We will have an update letter to be sent to all FOTL members ready for our November meeting. We'll updating them on the or friends, neighbors, and donors on progress and news related to the development. We will ask for their continued support, particularly in making donations and attending upcoming town board meetings. 4. New lawn signs are available! Help distribute them. 5. Lawn signs have been very effective in raising the profile of the subdivision in the area. We voted to order another batch. 6. We've made good progress with the lawyers and the engineers, who have identified key points in the preliminary plan for further analysis. We're also working with the town boards to maintain a transparent review process. 7. Working with the Millers River Watershed Council, we distributed 300 fliers at the Garlic & Arts Festival in Orange, 8. FOTL members will be giving an invited presentation on the subdivision issue and our activities at 100 Main Street, Athol on October 26 at 7pm. 9.
