Minutes from 11 December 2005 Meeting
Another lively exchange of ideas took place, and participants are extremely enthusiastic about working toward an appropriate solution to the problems associated with the proposed development.
1. Report on finances. The “war chest” of Friends of Tully Lake continues to grow, thanks to a very lucrative can and bottle drive at Hannaford Market, generous donations from interested people, and responses to our November fundraising letter. We continue to be in the black!
2. Paying bills. We agreed to pay bills from our attorney and from our consulting traffic engineer, and to reimburse Elizabeth Farnsworth for postage costs for mailing out the November fundraising letter.
3. Eight members of the group met with an aide to State Senator Stephen Brewer on Nov. 22. Our materials were well received, and the aide promised to pass on the information to the senator. We have also sent a comprehensive letter to Congressman Olver regarding this issue.
4. Report on can and bottle drive. The can and bottle drive at Hannaford Market raises more money on weekends than during the week, and bottles overflow after holidays. We thank the organizers who came up with this idea, and the staff of Hannaford Market who have been very helpful.
5. Update on the plan. No definitive plan has yet been submitted, but the surveyors have been working most days. The attorney and engineers are prepared to review the definitive plan as soon as it is submitted, and they will testify at any applicable public hearings.
6. Reminder of January 14, 2006 benefit tracking workshop. Fliers and press releases will be available before Christmas, and a sign-up form will be posted on the web-site. Participants will be taught the art and science of wildlife tracking during a 2-hour walk. Two sessions will be held, if more people sign up than can be accommodated in a single workshop .
9. Our next meeting: January 8, 2006. Happy New Year!
