Friends of Tully Lake monthly meeting
August 13, 2006 Minutes
Friends of Tully Lake members met at 3514 Chestnut Hill Ave. for our regular monthly meeting.
We were covered in an excellent article in Quabbin Valley Voices (August
edition).
Many thanks to Carla Charter for her great article!
Our huge tag sale took place over two days, and despite the rain, raised over
$1500!
Our benefit car wash at Wal-Mart raised over $120, despite the threatening
weather!
Thanks to all who helped out, and thanks to Wal-Mart for matching our funds.
We discussed several fundraising events that are underway:
1) We have received a $2000 grant from the New England Grassroots Environmental
Fund to
support outreach and fees for the attorney and engineers!
2) Trail Head in Orange will host a sales day to benefit Friends of Tully Lake
on Saturday, September 2!
A percentage of all their proceeds will go to Friends of Tully Lake. Get out
and shop at this great store!
Aaron will staff an information table from 9-11am,
Terry and Nancy will staff from 11am-1pm,
Tom and Ann will staff from 1pm-3pm and
Dan Bolton will lead a kayak trip for interested participants after 3pm.
3) Our can and bottle drive at Hannaford's Market in Orange will begin on September
1.
4) Nick and Valerie Wisniewski of Walnut Hill Tracking & Nature Center
have kindly agreed to offer another wildlife tracking workshop to benefit Friends
of Tully Lake,
Saturday, October 28, 2006 at Tully Lake. Thanks to Maureen for organizing this
event.
Our next meeting is Sunday, September 10 at 4pm.
